Moore County leaders and organizations have teamed together to form the Youth Wellness Coalition. This group is working to improve the health of Moore County youth and their families with awareness and education. “We chose to focus on informing and engaging the community on a variety of health topics identified to be significant to Moore County,” said CEO Jeff Turner. “Each health topic will be addressed over a month’s span and will differ monthly.”

The program, called "Moore Healthy Families" will cover topics using four components of health:
“Moore Health”- Medical Information
“Know Moore”- Additional Education
“Moore Fit”- Physical Activity
“Moore Nutritious”- Diet and Nutrition

“We know that we must reach the parents as well as the children to make a change in health lifestyles,” said MCHD Administrative Fellow Ashleigh Dozier. “All Moore County elementary students will be sent home with a monthly newsletter addressing the specific monthly health topic and additional information as well as the newsletter can be found at local businesses. A calendar of events included on the newsletter will inform the community of different coalition supported events related to the monthly health topic throughout each month.”

Coalition organization members include:
City of Dumas, City of Sunray, City of Cactus, Moore County, Moore County Hospital District, Dumas Independent School District, Sunray Independent School District, Texas AgLife Extension Service of Moore County and YMCA of Moore County
